Prospect Lefferts Gardens (PLG)

Prospect Lefferts Gardens (PLG), our somewhat large but cozy residential community is nestled in Flatbush, Brooklyn. The name, Prospect Lefferts Gardens was designated in 1968 by the neighborhood association at that time.   It is bordered by Empire Boulevard to the North, Clarkson Avenue to the south, New York Avenue to the east and Ocean Avenue/Prospect Park to the west.  It is an ethnically diverse neighborhood with New York City’s most prominent Caribbean population.  Recently, the area is increasingly populated with residents from Manhattan, Park Slope and beyond.  Prospect Lefferts Gardens enjoys transportation in and out via the Franklin Avenue Shuttle and the Q and B trains at Prospect Park, The Q and B at Parkside and the numbers 2 and 5 trains at both Sterling Street and Winthrop Street stations.  A host of city busses also flow through the thoroughfares.  The neighborhood is bordered by Prospect Park, The Prospect Park Zoo, The Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, and is home of the historic Lefferts Homestead.  A host of small businesses reflect the cultural landscape of the community.  Prospect Lefferts Gardens is an inviting neighborhood to visit and an exciting community to live in.
